Colin and Wendy Williams

We are very grateful that Colin and Wendy Williams are proud to be Patient and Family Aftercare Ambassadors for KSS, supporting our work to care for patients and families long after the emergency is over for as long as they are needed.

Aimee Williams, Colin and Wendyโ€™s daughter, tragically died in 2022 at the age of 30 following a road traffic collision. In recognition of the care provided by KSS, the family established a tribute fund in Aimeeโ€™s memory and, with support from our Patient and Family Aftercare Team, chose to get involved in supporting our work.

Through their tribute fund and fundraising activities, including an annual cycle ride, quiz nights and community events, the family has raised enough to support multiple missions to attend incidents. As ambassadors, they continue to play an important role in highlighting the impact of our aftercare support while ensuring Aimeeโ€™s memory continues to make a positive and lasting difference.

โ€œBecoming an ambassador is about giving something back and making sure other families feel less alone. After we lost Aimee, we didnโ€™t even realise the aftercare support existed, but the care and reassurance we received made such a lasting difference. Now, Iโ€™m passionate about raising awareness so others know that help is there when they need it most. Being a KSS Ambassador means using my voice, my networks and my experience to highlight the reality behind the charity, helping people understand the importance of aftercare, encouraging people to talk, and making sure more families can access the same support that meant so much to us.โ€

โ€œFor me its deeply personal, itโ€™s about family, connection and finding ways to cope after loss. I feel strongly that the care Aimee received, and the compassion shown to us as a family, deserves real recognition. I want people to understand that KSS is there through every outcome, not just the positive ones. Being a KSS Ambassador means sharing our story honestly, helping other families feel understood, and showing that the support doesnโ€™t end at the scene, it continues for as long as itโ€™s needed. Through this role, I hope to honour Aimee while helping to create a sense of community, reassurance and hope for others facing similarly difficult times.โ€
