Buy it for Life Dedications Update

KSST – the air ambulance helicopter purchased through our Buy it for Life campaign – has completed its annual service and now proudly features over 2,200 dedications on the underside of the aircraft.

Dedicators have been invited to an exclusive online unveiling event, specially designed and created to safely give a rare, behind-the-scenes experience, as we reveal the over 2,200 dedications on the underside of the aircraft up close for the first time.

The event will be held on Thursday 26 June at 6pm, live on YouTube, and hosted by KSS Chief Executive, David Welch, and KSS Executive Director of Service Delivery, Leigh Curtis MBE.

Frequently asked Questions

Are places limited?

No. Even if we are lucky enough to have all 2,000+ dedicators join us along with their friends, families and colleagues, YouTube will be able to handle it.

YouTube proved a very successful platform during our 2024 Restart a Heart campaign, where thousands of people joined us online. With over 2,000 dedicators, we are confident that YouTube will offer more technical reliability on the night than other platforms.

There are several reasons relating to safety, event logistics, and continuity of our service delivery.

The dedications have been added to the underside of KSST. As I’m sure you can appreciate, safety is our number one priority and allowing people under our aircraft is strictly prohibited. This special online event will include footage of our dedications, and dedicators will also be given access to an image of the artwork.

Over 2,000 generous people like you submitted dedications during our Buy it for Life appeal. Holding this event online is the safest, most cost-effective way to update such a large number of supporters, plus their many friends, families and colleagues.

Holding an in-person event would also require us to take KSST out of service for several hours – potentially even days – given the scale of the event. This would cause disruption to our lifesaving service, something we make every effort to avoid.

No. You will see and hear our speakers but they and your fellow guests will not see or hear you. These settings cannot be changed during the event

All of our dedicators should have received an email or letter in the first week of June. Your email may be in your Junk folder. It’s ok though. You can register at aakss.org.uk/BIFLevent. Simply select the ‘I’m a dedicator’ button and complete the information requested. You’ll then receive your confirmation email with a link to join the event on the day.

We are so very grateful for the generous support we received across Kent, Surrey and Sussex for our Buy it for Life appeal.
