Thank you so much for your interest in learning CPR and how to use a defibulator as part of the KSS Mission badge. You’re helping us to create an army of lifesavers across our community!!
Every day across the South East around 25 people experience a sudden out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. Most happen to people while they are at home or a private address. So many of us are likely to witness one happening to a loved one in our lifetime.
Sadly, only around 1 in ten people currently survive. But, together, we can ensure more people do. Every second counts for survival when someone has a cardiac arrest. The sooner CPR and defibrillation start, the better someone’s chance of survival yet research shows that around 25% of people are not given bystander CPR, and over 90% do not receive defibrillation, in those first crucial minutes before an ambulance arrives. By starting bystander CPR and defibrillation straight away, you can more than double a loved one’s chance of survival.
Thank you for giving us your time and we’ll give you the skills and confidence to be able to provide lifesaving CPR and defibrillation should the very worst happen. Together we’ll save more lives.
What to do to learn
The sessions are only 30-minutes and can be watched at a time that suits your unit. All you will need is:
- Access to a screen or whiteboard
- To watch the session you will need Wi-Fi or you can download in advance to watch offline.
- space on the floor to practise
- ask all of your girls to bring along either a cuddly toy or pillow as their patient.
You’ll then be able to watch and learn the important skills of CPR alongside our expert paramedic Ben and others.
