One of our inspirational fundraisers, Steve Wolfe from Newington, Kent, has reached an extraordinary milestone in his ongoing `Run the World’ fundraising challenge to raise vital funds to support our lifesaving work.
Steve, who is aiming to run a total distance of 40,075 kilometres – equivalent to circumnavigating the globe – reached the halfway point on Saturday 4 November when he took part in the Sittingbourne parkrun.
Just a few days later, on Wednesday 8 November, Steve celebrated by undertaking an amazing `base to base’ run of over 60km between our bases at Redhill Aerodrome and Rochester Airport along with a group of running friends.
Despite heavy rain for much of the day, the group made it safely to Rochester.
Earlier this year Steve ran `the world’s worst marathon’ as part of his round the world challenge. This involved running 63 laps of a 670m circuit where he lives on the same day as the London Marathon.
Steve was inspired to support us after he performed CPR on a parkrun participant who had a cardiac arrest and was cared for by our crew.
Steve said: “I’m thrilled to be doing something epic with epic people for an epic cause. Life-threatening emergencies can happen to anyone, anywhere. On the road. On the beach. In a park. KSS go there, fast, and treat people where they are.
“I’m honoured to be doing this challenge, raising awareness of the significant role KSS plays in our local community and helping them to save lives ”
Lola Inge, our Running and Challenge Manager said: “Steve’s remarkable journey is a testament to the impact one person can have on our local community. His dedication and passion are inspiring, and the funds he raises will make a real difference to the lives we save every day. We’re incredibly grateful for his support.
“Steve and his friends had to cope with heavy rain for much of the day during their base to base run but finished in good spirits. It was a truly inspirational effort.
