We’re proud to welcome 11-year-old Harrison Sahlah from Kent as the newest member of our inspirational Team KSS Young Ambassadors.
In June 2024, Harrison’s life changed in an instant when he was struck by a double-decker bus outside his home, leaving him with severe brain damage and trauma to his face. A crew from KSS responded rapidly by helicopter, delivering critical care at the scene before airlifting him to King’s College Hospital. Harrison had suffered severe brain damage and multiple traumatic injuries. His family were told to prepare for the worst.
But Harrison defied the odds.
Thanks to his extraordinary resilience and the unwavering support of his family, Harrison has made remarkable progress. Though he continues to face challenges, he is back in full-time education and thriving. His courage and determination have inspired everyone at KSS.
Now, this inspiring young man wants to use his experience to help others as one of the charity’s Young Ambassadors, helping to raise awareness and funds to help save more lives.
Harrison said: “I wanted to be a Team KSS Young Ambassador to help fundraise money for the charity to help even more people.”
Harrison’s journey with KSS didn’t end at the hospital doors. He’s visited the charity’s Redhill base, met the crew who cared for him and met other Young Ambassadors. When he learned about what they do to support the charity’s lifesaving work, he wanted to be part of it. And KSS knew he belonged.
KSS Patient and Family Aftercare Manager, Sarita Taneja, said: “Since meeting Harrison and his family, it has been an utter joy to see how far he has come in such a short time. His kindness shines through, and he is going to be a wonderful addition to our KSS family.”
Harrison joins a growing team of young people who are using their experiences to champion the lifesaving work of KSS. His story is a powerful reminder of why the charity’s work matters. There are now 12 Team KSS Young Ambassadors.
KSS is honoured to welcome Harrison to Team KSS. His bravery, compassion, and drive to give back are nothing short of extraordinary.
