VE Day 80: honouring the past

On 8 May 2025, we are proud to join the UK in marking the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day – a momentous occasion in our nation’s history.

VE Day 80 is not just a commemoration of the end of conflict in Europe, it’s also a powerful reminder of the immense courage, dedication and resilience shown by a generation. We will also remember those who died in the continued fighting in the Pacific until Victory over Japan Day.

We will be honouring this significant moment for our nation by joining a moment of silence followed by a lunchtime get together for our staff at our Rochester office. All staff will be encouraged to attend, as well as taking time this week to pause and reflect on this momentous occasion.

“I am proud to celebrate VE Day 80 whilst reflecting on this deeply meaningful historical event for our nation. 8 May 1945 marked a day of jubilation across the UK as communities came together to celebrate peace in Europe and honour the courage of those who served. I am pleased that we, Team KSS, will come together almost exactly 80 years on, to celebrate the end of the Second World War in Europe, whilst remembering all those who made sacrifices to secure our rights and freedoms. It is vital that we continue to learn more – conflict and hate continues to divide us and at every opportunity and we must look forward with resolve and hope for a world at peace.” – David Welch, Chief Executive
