Tickets are now on sale for our next internationally regarded Future Directions in HEMS conference being held on Thursday 18 March 2027 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Brighton Metropole in Sussex. The event will bring together professionals from across Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) and the wider Pre-Hospital Emergency Medicine (PHEM) community.
Designed to inspire innovation, collaboration, knowledge sharing and networking, the event will once again provide a platform to explore the opportunities, challenges and advancements that will help shape the future of pre-hospital emergency care, ensuring every patient gets the best possible chance of survival when every second counts.
Together, delegates will explore how far the sector has come over the past four decades, the lessons learned along the way, and the innovations that will define the next generation of pre-hospital emergency care.
*Conference themes will include:
- Then and Now: Shaping the Future of HEMS
Exploring how far HEMS has progressed over the last 40 years, the milestones achieved and the future direction of the sector. - Human Factors in High-Pressure Environments
Examining decision-making under pressure, managing demanding workloads and supporting the resilience, wellbeing and performance of healthcare professionals. - The Future of Pre-Hospital Advanced Endovascular Interventions
Reviewing current national and international models and successes in advanced endovascular care and considering how these developments will influence future clinical practice. - Prevention and Education: The Next Frontier
Discovering how advances in HEMS and PHEM are transforming approaches to prevention, training, education and public engagement. - Emerging Technologies in Pre-Hospital Care
Exploring how artificial intelligence, drones, next-generation equipment and digital innovation could transform HEMS operations and patient care in the years ahead.
Professor Richard Lyon MBE, Executive Director of Research and Innovation and Deputy Medical Director, at KSS said: “HEMS and wider PHEM has evolved dramatically over the past four decades, but the opportunities ahead are even more exciting. From emerging technologies and advanced clinical interventions to the human factors that underpin excellent patient care, the future of our sector will be shaped by our willingness to innovate, collaborate and learn together.
“Following our successful first conference in 2024, our second Future Directions in HEMS event taking place next March is bringing together some of the brightest minds in pre-hospital emergency medicine to share knowledge, challenge assumptions and explore what’s next. Ultimately, our goal is simple: to improve care, save more lives and give every patient the best possible chance when every second counts – now and into the future.”
