We are honoured and very grateful to have been chosen by two of our region’s Mayors to be their nominated charity for the 2021/2022 Mayoral Year.
In May, Councillor Michelle Keutenius was elected for a second term as the Worshipful Town Mayor of Folkestone. The Mayor will be supporting KSS and also Home Start Shepway and Folkestone Rainbow Centre.
Also in May, Borough Councillor Roger Roud was elected as the new Mayor of Tonbridge and Malling, announcing that his chosen charity would be KSS. Alongside his Mayoral duties, Councillor Roud is a classic motorcycle enthusiast and secretary of Bexley Triumph Owners Motorcycle Club.
At the beginning of their elected term, Mayors traditionally choose one or more local charities to support. Each Mayor will then host events and activities during the Mayoral Year to help raise awareness and to raise vital funds for their chosen charity.
Councillor Michelle Keutenius, Worshipful Town Mayor of Folkestone, said: “I was truly honoured to have been elected Mayor for a second term, and to be able to continue to support KSS as one of my charities. My family has personal experience of the incredible work KSS continues to provide for those in need, day or night.”
Borough Councillor Roger Roud, Mayor of Tonbridge and Malling, said: “I believe KSS performs an extremely valuable service which is available completely free of any cost to all members of our community, day or night. Although I have never had cause to use the service personally, I know of several people in my sporting days and during motorcycle events have been helped by the attendance of this very efficient and worthwhile service.
