We’re delighted to announce that our recent โWear Red in Febโ fundraiser saw nearly 6,000 supporters from over 50 schools, businesses and groups taking part.
Rachel Oxberry, one of our Community Fundraisers, said: โWe had a fantastic response to โWear Red in Febโ this year and it has been inspiring to see so many of our wonderful supporters embracing the idea of showing their love for KSS while raising vital funds to support our lifesaving service.
โWe are also aware of many more participants who did not sign up through our website, making the actual number of supporters even higher!
โAll the schools, businesses, groups and individuals have taken part enthusiastically and by sharing their amazing photos on social media using the hashtag #WearRedforKSS, they have spread awareness of our work far and wide, inspiring others to support us.โ
Among those taking part was young racing driver Thomas Merritt, a rising star in the world of motorsport who is using his public profile to raise awareness of the lifesaving work of KSS.
Thomas took part in `Wear Red in Febโ along with fellow pupils from Mascalls Academy, Paddock Wood, making a donation to wear red to school for the day.
Along with his parents, Lucie and Jamie, Thomas has a very personal link to KSS. In May 1998 his grandmother was involved in a serious road accident and required the specialist care of KSS before being airlifted to hospital.
Thomas said: โAlthough I love motor racing, I am well aware of the dangers of driving fast on the roads, and I am pleased to be collaborating with KSS to champion road safety. Iโm delighted to be able to help raise awareness of this incredible charity and the fantastic lifesaving work to they do. Because of the care KSS provided for my grandmother the charity is very special to my familyโ
Jo Brooks, Principal of Mascalls Academy, Paddock Wood said: โWe had a wonderful day and it was so great to see so many students supporting and wearing red for such a great cause.โ
