Success at prestigious national awards

Lola Inge, our Running and Challenge Manager, โ€ฏwasโ€ฏHighly Commendedโ€ฏin the Charityโ€ฏStaffโ€ฏMember of the Year award category.โ€ฏThisโ€ฏrecognition is a testament to Lolaโ€™s exceptional commitment and the incredible impact she hasโ€ฏmade inโ€ฏdriving our fundraising challengesโ€ฏforward, increasingโ€ฏvital awarenessโ€ฏandโ€ฏincome,โ€ฏwhileโ€ฏcreating unforgettable experiences for our supporters.โ€ฏโ€ฏโ€ฏย 

Over the past year, Lola hasโ€ฏincreasedโ€ฏincome fromโ€ฏrunning and challenges by anโ€ฏextraordinary 58%,โ€ฏraisingโ€ฏnearlyโ€ฏยฃ370k. โ€ฏHerโ€ฏcreative and strategic thinking have expanded theโ€ฏtypes of eventsโ€ฏsupporters can choose toโ€ฏtake part inโ€ฏfrom regional races to national andโ€ฏinternational offeringsโ€ฏsuch as marathonsโ€ฏin Berlin and Lisbon, bespoke Three Peaksโ€ฏChallengesโ€ฏand innovative virtual campaigns like Run 31โ€ฏthat nowโ€ฏtakesโ€ฏplace every January. Lolaโ€™sโ€ฏability to make every supporter feelโ€ฏvalued and inspired, combined with her collaborative approachโ€ฏand relentless drive, exemplifies the very heart of the charity.

Sarita’s incredible passion for caring for our former patients, their families, and bereaved families, is unwavering and inspirational. She was a founding member of our Patient and Family Aftercare Team and has helped to shape and create the service into what it is today. Sarita hasโ€ฏinitiatedโ€ฏmany elements of our Patient and Family Aftercare Service, including our peer support groups for cardiac arrest survivors,โ€ฏfarmersโ€ฏand others.

The team behind our Pre-Hospital Emergency Medicine (PHEM) Symposium were finalists in the Breaking Barriers category. The team, which conceived and delivered our โ€˜Optimisingโ€ฏInclusivity in PHEMโ€™ Symposium, held on Monday 9 September 2024,โ€ฏdemonstratedโ€ฏexceptional innovation. By championing inclusivity, they have helped to drive tangible improvements which willโ€ฏbenefitโ€ฏmany future generations of PHEM and Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) colleagues,โ€ฏand ultimately, patientsโ€ฏboth in the UK and further afield.

  • KSS Founderโ€ฏKateโ€ฏChiversโ€™, Lifetime Achievement Award.โ€ฏ 

Kateโ€ฏChiversโ€™ vision, courage, and determination in founding Kent Air Ambulance Trust in 1989โ€ฏโ€“ at the time only the third air ambulance service in the countryโ€ฏโ€“โ€ฏlaid the foundation for what is now Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex (KSS). Her pioneering work helped transform pre-hospital emergency care across the UK. Today, thanks to Kateโ€™sโ€ฏvisionโ€ฏand the learningsโ€ฏshe shared, there areโ€ฏnowโ€ฏa total of โ€ฏ21โ€ฏindividualโ€ฏair ambulance charitiesโ€ฏoperatingโ€ฏnationwide.โ€ฏKSS has grown into a world-leading Helicopter Emergency Medical Service, renowned for its clinical excellence, research, and innovation that improve patient outcomes both in the UK and internationally. Kateโ€™s legacy continues to inspire all who work to deliver this vitalโ€ฏlifesavingโ€ฏservice.โ€ฏ
