Runner Steve Wolfe from Newington, Kent has embarked on his latest epic challenge to raise funds for KSS. Steve was inspired to support us after he performed CPR on a parkrun participant who had a cardiac arrest and was cared for by our crew.
Steve, who turned 50 this year, will be running 50 half marathons in 50 days. The challenge will see him run 1,000 km as part of an even bigger challenge, to run a distance equivalent to circumnavigating the world.
Saturday 2 November was his 2,864th consecutive day of running having started back on 31 December 2016. On Friday 8 November he ran a half marathon starting and finishing at our Redhill base. He’ll do a similar run from our Rochester HQ later in the month.
He is due to reach 25,000 km on his `Run The World Challenge’ on Wednesday 13 November, leaving him with 15,000 km to go. By the end of November he will pass 5,000 km run this year, something he has never done before.
Steve said: “Running every day is hard enough, so taking it up to a half marathon a day for 50 days will be the hardest thing I’ve done in this challenge so far, so I’d welcome anyone that can sponsor me – every pound matters!
“I’m honoured to be doing this challenge, raising awareness of the significant role KSS plays in our local community and helping them to save lives.”
In 2023 Steve ran `the world’s worst marathon’ as part of his round the world challenge. This involved running 63 laps of a 670m circuit where he lives on the same day as the London Marathon. Last November he celebrated reaching the halfway point in his `Run the World’ challenge by undertaking an amazing `base to base’ run of over 60km between the KSS bases at Redhill Aerodrome and Rochester Airport along with a group of running friends.
Lola Inge, Running and Challenge Manager at KSS said: Steve’s dedication and passion are inspiring, and the funds he raises will make a real difference to the lives we save every day. We’re incredibly grateful for his support.”
“If you’d like to take on a challenge of any size and support our lifesaving work, we would love to hear from you.”
KSS has just launched its Christmas Appeal, `Ready to Save Lives’ which is helping ensure that its specialist doctors and paramedics will be there for people across Kent Surrey and Sussex in their hour of need.
