"What you do is absolutely amazing."

Last year, demand for our service was higher than ever. Please will you make a donation today, so we can be ready to save more lives this Christmas?

Our specialist doctors and paramedics bring lifesaving care, normally only available in a hospital, straight to the scene. This Christmas, we’ll be on standby 24 hours a day to get to those who need us anywhere in Kent, Surrey or Sussex in under 30 minutes. We can be called out up to nine times a day to help families facing a crisis.

We hope you never need us. But if you do, we’ll be there to fight for your life, just like we were for Sam and her unborn baby. Sam was six months pregnant when she had a cardiac arrest. That meant that two lives were on the line. When her heart stopped, we were ready to go, thanks to people like you.

As a charity, 88% of our funding comes from the generosity of our communities. With every mission costing £4,100 on average, your support means we can be ready to respond to anyone, anytime, anywhere.

This winter, when the unexpected happens and turns a family Christmas into a life or death emergency, your donation can make a lifesaving difference.

“Without KSS, lots of families would face very different futures. Please donate today to help KSS be ready to save lives. ”

It started as a typical morning. Sam, 23 weeks pregnant, was getting ready for work. She felt tired, but that was normal. What happened next wasn’t. Her partner, Mark, heard a thud and found Sam collapsed. He began CPR and called 999. Within minutes, we were airborne, ready to respond when every second mattered.

I was on base when the call came in, and the atmosphere changed instantly. We knew we had two lives to save. In the helicopter, we ran through our training, prepared for the challenges ahead. When we arrived, Mark had been doing CPR for several minutes. The ambulance crew had restarted Sam’s heart, but she needed more help. We had to intubate and sedate her, a complex procedure due to her pregnancy. Working closely with the ambulance team, we got her stabilized and knew we had to get her to King’s College Hospital quickly.

Flying her there took just 15 minutes, compared to over an hour by road. We got her and her unborn baby to the specialist care they needed.

We’ve all seen Sam and Mark many times since, including after the healthy birth of their son, Jack, and their second baby, Mia. As corny as it sounds, it is exactly why I wanted to become a paramedic. All of us just want to be able to make a lifesaving difference in that moment of crisis. And you can too.

This winter, when the unexpected happens and turns a family Christmas into a life and death emergency, your donation today means we can be ready.
