My thoughts on Covid-19

Due to the inspirational support of our donors, volunteers and supporters in combination with the effective working practices we have in place, KSS is in a strong and resilient place to be able to react to this crisis and provide as much support as we can to our remarkable NHS.

Firstly, I would like to extend my very best wishes to you and your families. I hope you are keeping safe and well. As a people centred organisation, I would like to reassure you that our priority is always the health and wellbeing of our patients, staff and volunteers. We have taken, and will continue to take, all the necessary measures to help ensure the safety of our patients, staff, volunteers. Please be assured we are following all current advice from Public Health England (PHE) and continue to work closely with our colleagues in the NHS and Ambulance Service to ensure we can continue to offer an outstanding service.

As such, our service continues to work as normally as possible, by continuing to offer the best possible pre hospital treatment and care for patients facing medical emergency. We have made all the necessary changes required to mitigate any risks we now face.

Following government guidance all staff non-essential to the actual delivery of our service are working from home. Our teams working in income generation, marketing and communications, finance and corporate services are working effectively to ensure we are able to sustainably fund and operate our critical service and are communicating with our with our donors and supporters. Importantly, we also continue to offer support and an open heart to all our staff and volunteers. We continue to care for each other as best as we can.

As the situation is evolving, Team KSS is working hard to extend the support we provide where we will have the greatest impact. It is our intention over the coming days and weeks to look more closely, in collaboration with our partners and community organisations, as to what additional support we could to provide in the communities in which we serve, to support the vulnerable, isolated and those facing particularly challenging times.

As always, we are firmly committed to delivering the best possible service we can to as many people as we can, in order to make a real difference to the lives of our patients and communities. This is true now more than ever and I can assure you we are both prepared and highly committed to meet this challenge.

I would like to offer my heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported KSS up to this point, and I know we can count on your ongoing support as we continue to deliver our outstanding service.

Please take care of yourselves and each other, be safe and stay well.
