We have received special recognition from the judges at this yearโs Kent Charity Awards for `Fundraising Campaign of the Yearโ. The award was presented at a gala evening at the Corn Exchange, in Rochester, Kent on Thursday 5 September where our lifesaving charity was also on the shortlist for Large Charity of the Year.
The Fundraising Campaign of the Year Award recognised the huge success of our `Buy it for Lifeโ appeal, which we launched earlier this year when we needed to raise ยฃ1million in two months to complete the purchase of our second helicopter.ย
Thanks to overwhelming public support from the people of Kent and beyond, the target was reached in just six weeks, with the appeal going on to raise nearly ยฃ2million.
The Kent Charity Awards were set up in 2015 to recognise the work of charities, volunteers and trustees working in Kent and are now the most important celebration of the third sector in the county. Over 70 charities entered the Awards, with more than 40 Trustees and Volunteers being nominated.
Speaking after the awards ceremony David Welch, our Chief Executive, said: โWe are proud to have been honoured with this award which is shared by every member of Team KSS; our staff, Trustees, volunteers, former patients and their families, our partners and peers, and most of all our amazing supporters who made our `Buy it for Lifeโ appeal such a huge success.ย
โKSS was founded in Kent nearly 35 years ago and we can only continue saving lives every day thanks to the kindness and generosity of the people of Kent and beyond. โ
Our charity provides pre-hospital lifesaving emergency medical care 24/7, saving lives and enabling the best possible patient outcomes. It costs over ยฃ51k a day to run our lifesaving service, and most of that is funded by supporters.ย ย
