Our popular Heli Hike in Surrey and Family Fun Day fundraising events are taking place at Loseley Park, Guildford, on Sunday 31 August, to raise vital funds to keep us flying and saving lives and we’d love to see YOU there to have some fun and make a lifesaving difference.
Sponsored by London Gatwick, Heli Hike in Surrey is a family-friendly walk of either 3 or 7.5 miles through lovely countryside with every step helping to fund our charity’s lifesaving work in communities across the county. Taking place at the same time is the exciting Family Fun Day which includes the chance to see one of our helicopters up close* and meet members of our lifesaving crew as well as Skye, our KSS mascot. There’ll also be performances from the Rock Choir, Princess Parties and a local Morris Dancing group alongside lots of other family-friendly fun and games. Everyone’s welcome, including dogs!
*Operational commitments permitting, a KSS helicopter will be at the event and use the site as its operational base for the day. Visitors will have a chance to learn the vital lifesaving skills of giving CPR and using a defibrillator, skills that could one day help save the life of a family member, loved one, friend or member of the public. There’ll also be a chance to meet some of our amazing colleagues from South East Coast Ambulance Service , Surrey Roadsafe and Community First Responders.
Lauren Simmons, our Head of Events said: “It’s going to be a fantastic event, with lots of fun in store. So grab your friends, family and even the dog and come along to our Heli Hike In Surrey and Family Fun Day raising vital funds to help keep us flying and saving lives.
“On average we make nine lifesaving missions a day to people who suddenly become critically injured or ill across the region. Most have been involved in a road traffic collision or have experienced a medical emergency like a cardiac arrest or stroke. We hope you never need us, but you can help to ensure we can be there if the worst does happen by taking part in Heli Hike in Surrey and coming along to our Family Fun Day.”
