A loyal supporter of ours has helped raise much-needed funds by making face masks for family and friends.
Pauline Goddard, from Canterbury, has supported us since 2004 and came up with the idea following the Government’s recommendation last May that face coverings should be worn to limit the spread of Coronavirus.
Since then Pauline has made more than 200 masks, raising ÂŁ200 for us.
Pauline said: “I used to work as a seamstress, specialising in alterations and repairs. When, last spring, the Government announced that we should start to wear face masks, I quickly made some for my immediate family.”
“It was my sister who suggested I could ask friends and other family members if they would like a face mask, inviting them to make a donation to KSS in return. We never know when we might need KSS and now they need our support more than ever before.”
Pauline received good news of her own when, in the week before Christmas, she won a first prize of £1,000 in our weekly Regular Lottery. Pauline has supported us through our Lottery for 17 years, and she said that the timing of this win couldn’t have been better!
It costs £15M each year for us to operate our life-saving service, with 88% of this raised through public donations. Our Lotteries and Raffles help to generate vital income whilst giving supporters a chance to win. There are weekly cash prizes of up to £1,000 available to members of the charity’s Regular Lottery and a chance to win up to £25,000 in the Superdraw.
James Cook, Head of Lotteries and Gaming at KSS, said: “On behalf of KSS, I extend heartfelt thanks to Pauline who has gone above and beyond for our charity. Pauline is one of our many dedicated supporters so we were delighted when she won the top prize in our weekly draw. We are reliant upon the generosity of the people within our communities to deliver our life-saving service, making sure we are there 24/7 for the most critically ill and injured people across our region in their hour of need. We cannot do this without you.”
“Our lottery is a great way to support us. From just £1 per week you can not only help us save lives but be in with the chance of winning a cash prize, like Pauline.”
“This continues to be a hugely challenging time for us all, and thanks to the extraordinary support we have received, we have been able to deliver our service uninterrupted throughout. If you are able to, please do consider joining our lottery, or making a donation, so that together we can save even more lives.”
