Ready, set, glow. Join us for Heli Hike at Night — a fun, feel-good walk under the stars in support of your local air ambulance charity, KSS.
Grab your glow sticks, flashing accessories, fancy dress, and get ready to shine as we light up the beautiful Mote Park, Maidstone. Join us for an unforgettable night walk with a lifesaving mission. Choose from a 2.5 or 5-mile route and enjoy our fun-filled party zones along the way, complete with music, selfie stations, glitter face painting and more. As a thank you for your support, you’ll receive an eco-friendly medal to celebrate your achievement once you cross the finish line!

This year, we’re inviting every Heli Hiker to pin a personal message to their T-shirt, sharing why they walk — whether it’s in memory of a loved one, in thanks for the care we provided, or to support a cause close to their heart. When you finish, you’ll have the chance to add your message to our special Memory Board, a moving celebration of why every step matters.

Will the route be lit?
Our route will mainly be dark so please bring a torch with you!
Can I bring my dog?
Yes please! We welcome all well-behaved dogs at Heli Hike. We just ask for you to keep your dog on a lead throughout.
What time should I arrive?
Come along and join us from 5pm, our warm-up will begin at 5.45pm ready for you to head off on Heli Hike at 6pm.
What is the route like? Is it hilly?
Our route takes you around Mote Park and you can choose to complete one loop (2.5 miles) or 2 loops (5 miles). The route is largely flat but please note that there are a few hills along the way.
Are the routes suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs?
Whilst this is a wheelchair and pushchair accessible route, it may not be suitable for all as it’ll be dark, and the route is hilly in parts. Please contact our Events Team for more information.
Is there parking available at Mote Park?
Yes, there is plenty of car parking available. We advise you to use the main car park by the Cafe. Parking will incur a £2 fee, please use the pay stations situated in the car park.
What should I bring with me on the night?
- A fully charged mobile phone
- A reusable bottle of water
- A coat or umbrella in case it rains (we hope not!)
- A torch – you will be walking in the dark!
- Your best glow accessories – lets shine bright!
Who can take part in Heli Hike?
Everyone is welcome! We just ask for all participants under the age of 16 to be always accompanied by an adult.
Will refreshments be available?
The Rapid Response Team will be providing a free burger and a soft drink to all our participants. Hot drinks will also be available.
What about fundraising?
Your sponsorship is vital for the success of Heli Hike at Night so we encourage our amazing participants to use this opportunity to ask friends, family and colleagues for sponsorship. This year we aim to raise £25,000 at this event to help us continue saving lives across Kent, Surrey and Sussex. Our Events Team will support you every step of the way with plenty of fundraising tips.
