You are never too young to fundraise for us, as eight-year-old Oscar proved when he ran a mile on the athletics track at Worthing Leisure Centre recently dressed as a Stormtrooper.
Oscar was inspired to take on his fundraising challenge after his Dad began supporting KSS. This was his second fundraiser for us – Oscar also took part in our 2.6 Challenge by doing a sponsored walk during lockdown.
Oscar said: “I want to raise money for KSS so if there’s an accident or someone needs help then the air ambulance can help.”
Oscar’s Mum, Helen added: “I’m so proud of Oscar wanting to raise money for KSS, it’s such a valuable service that we all hope we will never need.”
Lola Inge, our Running and Challenge Manager said: “We are incredibly grateful to Oscar. Not only did he run a mile dressed as a Stormtrooper but he also came up with the idea himself and found a suitable venue with a running track. We hope that his fundraising feat will inspire other people, of all ages, to create their own fundraisers and help us to raise vital funds.
“Each year, we must raise £16.6M – equivalent to £45K per day – to operate our life-saving service, with 87% of our total income raised through the generosity of our supporters. Without fundraisers like Oscar, we wouldn’t be able to provide 24/7 world-leading pre-hospital care, saving lives in our communities and ensuring the best possible patient outcomes.”
