Major Giving

The support and generosity of our philanthropists helps save lives across Kent, Surrey and Sussex every year.

By making a major gift as an individual or through a grant-making Trust or Foundation, our philanthropists have a pivotal role in our work and make an enormous impact on our services. Your generosity helps fund our vital pre-hospital emergency medical care, whilst supporting research and innovation to continually develop and advance our service for the future.

As an independent charity, we receive almost 90% of our funding from our supporters. Without your donations, we wouldn’t be able to support those who need us most across Kent, Surrey and Sussex.

We respect and value the uniqueness of each of our philanthropists and pride ourselves on working together to build a bespoke relationship. Anyone who sends us a major gift will receive personal updates on the difference their money is making, will be given opportunities to meet our crew and will receive invitations to our exclusive events.

If you are considering making a major gift or would like to discuss your involvement further, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please get in touch with Paul Sandford, Head of Major Gifts on 01634 471979 or paulsandford@aakss.org.uk

What are the benefits of major giving?

Donating is a selfless act. One of the major positive effects of donating money to charity is simply feeling good about giving. Being able to give back to those in need helps you achieve a greater sense of personal satisfaction and growth; it feels good to help others.

The changes your support could provide are endless. The beauty of becoming a major donor is the autonomy you have in deciding where your money goes – you could fund the area of work that you’re interested in, or that means something to you.

At Air Ambulance Kent Surrey Sussex, we continually strive to improve the quality of the service we provide to our patients. Our research and innovation programme helps us to adopt an evidence-based practice, explore operational concepts and undertake meaningful service improvements.

GoodSam App

We undertook a trial alongside South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust, which evaluated the use of GoodSAM – one of the world’s most advanced emergency alerting and dispatching platforms – when assessing casualties at incident scenes. This is a new technology that allows us to take control of someone’s smartphone camera so we can view live footage to assess casualties in emergencies. Research is an integral part of our commitment to improving performance and patient outcomes. This collaboration with SECAMB and the University of Surrey will help roll out exciting new technologies that will improve the speed and accuracy of dispatch by HEMS and Ambulance Trusts.

The support you provide can be life-changing, ground-breaking and historic.
