Over 180 of our wonderful supporters raised nearly £12K by taking part in our Heli Hike in Kent at The Friars, Aylesford on Saturday 23rd September, the first of four Heli Hikes this year.
Participants ranged from a 4-month-old baby to a lady of eighty, and included a number of our former KSS patients and Tracey Crouch MP.
The Heli Hikers enjoyed either a 3 or seven and a half mile walk, with the longer route taking them up Blue Bell Hill before returning to the finish at the Friars for refreshments and music provided by the Old School Samba band.
As the final finishers completed their walk, KSS staff and volunteers, other walkers and the musicians lined the final few metres of the route to welcome them back in style.
Lauren Simmons, our Head of Events said: “It was a brilliant day, great to see so many families and friends out enjoying the sunshine and beautiful Kent countryside. The atmosphere at the finish was electric, and judging by the number of smiles we saw as people arrived back at our event village, those taking part had just as much fun as we did.
“As a charity, we depend on the support and generosity of our local community, to enable us to continue delivering our life-saving care. We simply couldn’t be there for people in urgent need without our supporters participating in our events and raising vital funds. Thank you to all our amazing Heli Hikers.”
KSS would like to acknowledge the support of the suppliers who helped contribute to the success of the event, including Elite Medical, R Swain and Sons, Kent Frozen Foods, GW Highways, FTH Hire and Carlene Nixon.
