Our very first Winter Ball raises an amazing £171K!

Our very first Winter Ball, attended by 230 guests, has raised an amazing £171K to support our charity’s vital work across Kent, Surrey and Sussex.

Held on Saturday 18th November at the Londoner Hotel in London’s Leicester Square, the evening starred ITV’s Mary Nightingale along with science broadcaster and KSS Doctor, Kevin Fong OBE, with headline sponsor Specialist Aviation Services.

The evening was a celebration of our charity’s lifesaving work to help raise vital funds.

ITV presenter Mary Nightingale hosted the evening while special guest, science broadcaster Dr Kevin Fong OBE, shared his experiences of working as part of KSS’s world-leading critical care team, shedding light on what it is like to respond to an emergency when every second counts. Kevin entertained guests with his anecdotes of working for NASA and the parallels of working for KSS.

The event began with a champagne reception where guests were able to speak to members of our crew, followed by an exquisite three-course meal in the spectacular ballroom. A silent auction raised over £30K, with prizes that included a diamond pendant from G Collins & Sons, Wimbledon final tickets and a week in Venice.

Kelly Heaton-Ralph, Executive Director of Fundraising and Philanthropy at KSS said: “Our inaugural Winter Ball was an incredible evening which exceeded all our ambitions by raising an incredible £171K to support our lifesaving work.

“We’re so grateful to our guests, sponsors and all the companies who contributed to making the event such a huge success. I’d also like to pay tribute to our hardworking Events Team for organising a very special night.”

Mary Nightingale, ITV Presenter, said: “As a journalist, I’m very well aware of the vital importance of Air Ambulance charities like KSS. None of us wake up in the morning thinking we will need their life-saving service. But sudden critical injury or illness can happen to anyone, at any time, and so every year thousands of people do. That’s why I’m delighted to be part of such a special evening devoted to raising crucial funds to ensure that this amazing charity can continue to save even more lives whenever and wherever they are needed.”
