Coronavirus is the largest global health crisis of our lifetime. It affects all of us, and as a nation, we continue to grapple with the best ways of reacting to this crisis. It has resulted in what seems like unsurmountable challenges for many organisations and charities, and people are looking for a way to generously contribute, support and make a difference – to show they care.
Like everyone, KSS is facing unprecedented challenges but we are ever more focused on our purpose. This week, we have launched our Coronavirus Emergency Appeal. Never before has an appeal been so important and urgent.
As a people centred organisation, the needs of our patients inspire us and drive us forward. We are steadfast in our commitment to continue our core life-saving, specialist pre-hospital emergency service which is so critical for our communities. We feel passionately that service continuity is vital for our patients. They continue to need our help, and we are working to the nationally stated goal of ensuring, where possible, pandemic management does not lead to an increase in morbidity and mortality in other non-Coronavirus patients.
But we also want to do more. We want to provide support at the frontline, and so have responded to our call to action to support the NHS and South East Ambulance Coast Service (SECAmb) in the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic by supporting inter-hospital transfers of critically ill patients diagnosed with the Coronavirus. Collaboration is one of our key strengths, and we wholeheartedly believe in harnessing the power of shared resources and expertise to maximise reach and impact. We continue to work in effective partnership to allow, where possible, for a seamless patient journey and to ease the strain on vital NHS resources in whatever ways we can.
Our priorities are twofold. Firstly, we are utterly committed to achieving our purpose as a charity of saving lives and enabling the best possible patient outcomes. This involves caring for and treating as many patients as we possibly can, at a time when they need us more than ever. And secondly, to ensure the safety and protection of our staff, Team KSS, who are our strongest asset. We are working tirelessly to source the necessary resources and Personal Protective Equipment to ensure staff are both protected, and able to deliver our service to the best of their abilities.
Fundamentally, we care for our patients and our communities. We have been part of the social fabric of the south east of England for the past 30 years and never has our service been more vital than now.
We need to be there for our patients. And for that, we urgently need help.
As a charity, we are reliant on the generosity and commitment of our donors and supporters for our survival with 88% of the over £15M we need per year being raised or donated.
We are looking for our supporters and communities to be part of the solution. To contribute to our life saving work.
A gift to the Emergency Coronavirus Appeal gives our patients a chance at their best possible future.
We thank our supporters sincerely on behalf of each and every patient we care for.
